Assistance For Judas
Judas is a fem trans person of color who is currently homeless and lives out of their car and is unemployed and looking for work. Unfortunately, they’re running out of money for gas and to keep their phone active (and will be out by the end of June). Without gas and phone, looking for work will be extremely difficult, if not impossible. This is in addition to not being about to get around for other reasons, such as buying food.
They’re in a really desperate situation at this point, and I know this has helped others in the past, so I am asking if anyone can help Judas so they don’t lose their mobility and communication, and other needs. As on previous occasions, I ask because they are looking at a very grim situation.
I have also added the button to my sidebar.
Edit to add: Judas also does a lot of volunteer work – which is very important to them – and will also be very difficult to manage without transportation.
I know it’s only a bit over minimum wage, but if there’s a Macy’s near Judas, they might consider applying there. Macy’s explicitly says in the employee handbook that it doesn’t discriminate based on gender identity or presentation (plus the usual protected classes, including sexual orientation).

I tried to use the Donate button, but it didn’t send me to the part of paypal where I can actually do the donation, it just sent me to the login page and then to where I can see the transactions. Could you send me an email with the address to enter into paypal to send the money? I think you can see my email address from the comment link.

I just tested it and it took me to a page with all the correct information and the e-mail address shown at the top of the page, so I don’t know what is causing the problem.

I’m confused. Is Judas several people? Pronouns used in the story indicate multiple people (they, etc.) If they are one person why do not not refer to them as she? Using words like “their or they” in an attempt to avoid gender pronouns for an individual is personally insulting and grammatically wrong. Part of respecting people is recognizing who they are and not trying to hide behind language that invalidates this person.

Judas’ pronouns are either Spivak or singular “they.” My pronoun usage was correct, and I had Judas look over the post before I put it up. I am certain they would have corrected me if I were invalidating them as a person.
I should also hope that the use of singular they to refer to people who say that it is their preference is not personally insulting nor is it grammatically incorrect.

I would normally not approve a post like this, but it bothered me enough that I wanted to address it directly.

Your links do not support the way you use “they” and “them.” They do lay out times when it is historically correct to generalize but not to refer to an individual using plural pronouns the way you have done so in a repeated fashion talking about a specific individual.
We (referring only to me) are happy that all of you (you) did not mean to use those terms to avoid using specific gender.
If we (I) were referred to as ‘they’ or ‘them’ I would be insulted.

The point is that the use of “they” in a singular fashion is grammatically supported. Some people prefer to use singular “they” for their personal pronouns because other options do not meet their needs (most frequently, “he/him/his” and “she/her/hers” do not fit, usually due to non-binary gender). Some choose other older pronouns like “ou”, some choose Spivak pronouns such as “ey/em/eir/eirs”, some choose pronouns such as “xie/xyr/xyrs”, some choose “zie/hir/hirs”.
In any event, please drop the subject.

I can’t believe someone felt the need to attack Judas’s freaking pronouns. FFS.
Dear silly commenter,
Judas chooses to use they/them/their. You needn’t worry about Judas being insulted for it being used for them.
